Hi ober----------- As a past Market Operator(MO) in a Broker's Office (many many years ago so my knowledge now questionable) -One could not place an order on market ('sell' especially) MO had to confirm stock held and no claim on it. -One would have to 'know buyer could meet value of order' MO to confirm or know client's intentions 100% -Orders of substance - if pulled - could be subject to investigation -re Market Manipulation (ha ha) If above not met and Market Overseer (ASX) checked - big $$$$$$ fine. Have seen this carried out. Also 'fines' were reported to market. To 'deterr' ?
- However now with algo operators, some I believe individuals ( dominated as ' Sophisticated Investors ' ) and the Dark Market (??) I am not sure of operations -- but one wonders ! My opinion only.
I believe - my opinion without any -research or evidence- it may be hard for Market Watchdogs to oversee.!
