the basic elements sat within the the IP blocks - the missing IP blocks that sky had not 'packaged'
that included gdsii / rtl / design flows / firmware .....many components
so both that customer and wbt could not progress in sky due to this 'oversight'
that customer i believe is still with weebit and progress is being made but they need a foundry due to skys' lets say error and that has proved time consuming for the same reason - why? ask yourself how you migrate to another foundry when there is incomplete or in fact missing IP blocks on a customer with new design soc ....yeah - doesn't happen - so that has been an ongoing process for that customer
they remain with wbt as it is a 'new' product entry and no existing manufacturing lines/contracts exist - this will be a first time memory customer in the space (atm) for their 'product'.
they (wbt) had 28nm qualled ( run and qualled in house) and ready to go why did they push for 22nm at GF while sky tailored out 130nm to derisk with commercial foundry bake and qual....
I also believe the gssn ots array selector 1r1s is development work for this customer related to future scaling but not only - it has far reaching market application apart from this customer)
- again some have aired concern that discrete has not been pursued as per the companies open announcements about it but dyor - the gssn ots array selector has white papered and holds patent priority so very close to customer proto test & integration imo - they will not disclose it as its customer focused
the company was giving you the heads up - it has been a 'huge challenge' ( if this post is even close - that's the bit you missed with your highlighter ) and that customer is still with them - that is also why i believe the nda was initiated by wbt as i previously posted.
these are my own observations and opinions - like everything posted in these threads they make no difference and mean nothing till news arrives
