Interactive Brokers offer short selling on WBT, have done for awhile.
Shorting is fine, it's a part of the market liquidity and has been for quite some time. I haven't (to date) bothered with shorting stocks due to the [small] risk of binary events but it's a prerequisite if you want to trade in the futures market effectively.
Retail hate shorting because someone is betting against them and that challenge to their thinking induces fear. Once you label something you can start to overcome it. Just a thought.
