I suspect they aren't in the queues but just appear when the algorithm decides. They could be placed by/through the computers that are installed close-coupled to the ASX computer so they can jump in much faster than you and I possibly could.
The ones in the queues that annoy me are the ones at ridiculous high prices in the sell queue that are designed to bulk up the sell total and persuade other people to sell.
It's a good question though. I suspect the whole day's trading would look quite different without the bots. Maybe it might even look honest.
