If the shares are transacted via a repurchase agreement, it involves an actual sale and a future repurchase.
So they do own the shares , they then sell them on the market. Hope the price goes down.
They then buy them back at cheaper price, and sell them back to original owner via repurchase agreement .
Original owner doesn't own the shares when the price moves.
