Australia is 110th in the world rankings of manufacturering as a percentage of GDP, behind the likes of Botswana, Mali and many other countries considered backward third world.
This demise of our manufacturering industry is going to end badly for normal Aussie workers if successive Australian governments don't rectify the situation very quickly.
Government budgets are living on mineral royalties, increasing income tax revenue from increasing wages, real estate price manipulation through immigration (which is part of our gdp);all of which are going to end in the very near future.
Chips are the new oil, but I can't see any evidence that our dumb rse leaders are changing their direction of thought into a smart new future business plan.
