The 75th World Semiconductor Council Joint Steering Committee (JSTC) meet's this week, March 7th-10th. I thought this was relevant, looks to me like an industry well aware of it's environmental footprint and is currently in the process of changing it's landscape.

"On the environmental front, the WSC was recognized by the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) as part of its first Climate Protection Award, in recognition of the semiconductor industry’s efforts to commit to significant reductions in emissions of greenhouse gases used in the semiconductor manufacturing process. Under the umbrella of the WSC, the global industry has exceeded its initial 10% reduction goal for perfluorocarbons (PFC) emissions and achieved a 32% decrease over a ten-year period.[3]The WSC also coordinated efforts of the global industry to eliminate the use of PFOS, a chemical of concern previously used in semiconductor manufacturing, and in efforts to phase out the use of another chemical, PFOA"

Another masterstroke from our Grandmaster's. How many boxes can they tick? Huge selling point!

    Environmental impact analysis
Post reporting period, Weebit ReRAM was shown to have a significantly lower environmental impact
compared to Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM) - another emerging non-volatile memory
technology. A lifecycle analysis completed by Weebit and CEA-Leti estimated the contribution of ReRAM
and MRAM to climate change based on their production flows, including raw materials and manufacturing
processes. The study found ReRAM was more eco-friendly than MRAM on all measured parameters, with
a 30% reduction in GHG (“Greenhouse gases”)emissions, 41% reduction in water use, and 53% reduction
in use of minerals and metals.
