So many ways to skin a cat and I think that is a big component of daily price moves. Everyone has a unique combination of metrics and qualities they use to make a decision which contributes to the noise. Keeping that in mind when a trend develops there is a consensus across these ideas to deliver some directional inertia.

I don't really see much difference between the labels of trading and investing. No investment lasts forever so it is a trade (or a trade can be an investment on a short time frame). To speak to your last sentence regarding whether a holder cares about the value of a company, I can tell you a big part of the daily moves are uncaring of market cap. I quickly realised I wasn't going to make money by trying to ingest The Intelligent Investor, instead focusing effort into some naturally existing talent (visual strengths).

One thing I find difficult to gather intel on are the decision trees people use to make long term investments. Would love to read more informed posts on the topic but as is common knowledge most participants have very little reasoning to be in a position.
