Amcom got into a deal with a consortium and I think they named it A1 (from memory). Basically these guys were one third partners in a fibre cable setup from Melbourne to Perth.
After finally finishing the link they got shafted by a creditor that would not pay, so they defaulted and the thing was sold from under them.
Funny thing was, the company that defaulted payment was an side company of Singtel, one of their partners...Hmmmm. Singtel and Amcom were good buddy, buddies til they got Optus...Singtel promised this new melb-perth link was going to get a big chunk of their business (the gateway from asia, i think was the big promise).......Looks like they just pulled a fast one and Amcom were the dopes left holding their you know whats.
So, I bought into Amcom thinking they were going places..but seems its ever decreasing circles until they disappear up you know where. IMHO.
