Somalia: Businessman slain in Mogadishu

(Somalinet) Unidentified gunmen shot dead a businessman in Hodan district, south of the Somalia capital on Wednesday night, witnesses said.

Abdi Fatah was gunned down by two men armed with pistols after Isha prayer tonight, according to the local residents.

“He was hit by several bullets on his chest and he died on the spot,� said Ahmed Abdi, an eyewitness.

It is not yet clear why the business man was killed and no group has claimed the responsibility of the latest murder.

It is not clear why the businessman was targeted.

Shortly after the shooting, the security forces reached the area and began investigations over the killing.

More than 20 people mostly civilians were killed in Mogadishu for the past two months.

The current government lacks ways to prevent the continuing killings against the individuals.

Late Tuesday, unknown gunmen killed a well known local businessman in Kismayu city, 500km south of the capital Mogadishu. Local human rights groups condemned the killing on that person.
