Denise Houston1-1 minutesWith just $210 in his pocket, Jack Dardalis, along with his family and friends, hand made their first batches of Dim Sims and Spring Rolls in the crowded confines of their West Footscray garage.
Displaying natural entrepreneurial spirit, Jack marketed these popular Asian inspired delights throughout the extensive network of fish and chip shops owned by his Greek compatriots.
Like many start-up businesses it was hard and unrelenting work out of a garage. As the business grew, Jack raced around Melbourne like a marathon runner to service all of his customers, so it only seemed natural to name the company, Marathon.
Today Marathon is Australia’s market leading producer of Dim Sims, Spring Rolls and Puffy Dogs in the Food Service and Retail channels.
Marathon continues to be owned and operated by the Dardalis family.
