If the US goes down the mlitary track they will have to find somebody to pay the bills. In the first Gulf War they made a profit out of the countries that contributed, the second is on their account only and any further conflict will lack payers. The only way to get other countries to pay is to promote terrorism in other countries and use fear and terror to make them pay up. I can't see this working as the US is rapidly being overtaken by other nations in economic terms and military. As we have seen, cruise missiles and tanks do not defeat a nation, not even a small one like Iraq. If the US comes up against a larger one, we will see a rapid back off by them because they know the consequences. The only way forward is in the trade field where wealth is shared around; this is what the US fears the most, because it is very vulnerable now, having to rely on intellectual property sales for income. Maybe gold is the best course to take till the dust clears.
