    Everyone knows very well the difference between USSR and Russia, and unlike yourself don't need to turn to Wiki.

    So in your view USSR and Russia are two different countries,Wrong! As Russia was obviously the central government,control and capital of the USSR. Fact is it's the only one left as the other countries couldn't wait to exit given the chance .

    Whether anyone states US defeated Russia or USSR in cold war, they are obviously referring to the same identity as Russia was the USSR plus a republic of countries or states..

    US defeated USSR/RUSSIA in the cold war as the USSR collapsed leaving only Russia, Fact!

    And yes you are just being pedantic.
