Yes, and it is apparent that the more green centric and leftist leaning the leadership class is, the more conflict they seem to conjure up, either unwittingly or intentionally. As much as trump is disliked for various reasons, one cannot argue the fact that the US did not get involved in a new conflict under his term in office. The same cannot be said for busy body Biden, Obama or Bush who I see gain most of their support from the left. Trump gets his support from the right. Anyway, that's a bit off topic but it shines some light on what you are saying. The Ukraine/Rus conflict is a classic left vs right conflict when you look at it. The thing with the left is they have a hard time fighting anyone that they do not outgun and outnumber 10:1 and they are too proud to back down.
It's a classic silver spoon spoilt child syndrome on a national scale. Raise a child in pure comfort without adversity or morale standards of hard work, respect, decency etc. and when they are grown, they will find and create problems to feel a sense of importance. Thats what we now have, EU has over the last few decades focused on shining its own silver spoon rather than building itself up to be as robust, self-sufficient and efficient as possible as a people and an economy. Lack of conflict has made them lax and now they have stepped into a space they do not really know how to deal with because none of them have lived through a time of conflict, nor have their parents to pass on any practical knowledge on how to deal with the situation.
Now that the west has committed so much money and equipment to fighting Russia, how could they possibly think that the door to negotiations will remain open? Rus is now willing to negotiate for peace, but for how long, when does their ultimate goal become unconditional surrender? Putin is a classic stand over man, he only respects strength. What happens when he sees how weak the EU is? The open invitation to peace negotiations closes ever so slightly with each passing day of extra military aid to Ukraine. Also, after the west's injury on top of insult, what happens when a young, hungry successor replaces Putin? There is some serious resentment building in Rus.
Yes, I think we could talk for hours. Might catch you at an AGM in the future. Peace out.
