Russia won't abandon Crimea any time soon. They didn't build the Kerch Strait Bridge for the fun of it.

"The Kerch Strait Bridge is a pair of Russian-constructed parallel bridges, spanning the Strait of Kerch between the Taman Peninsula of Krasnodar Krai and the Kerch Peninsula of Crimea. The bridge complex provides for both road and rail traffic, and has a length of 19 km making it the longest bridge Russia has ever built and the longest bridge in Europe."

So why did Russia build the bridge with the whole world watching on for years?

"Sevastopol Marine Trade Port (SMTP) is a port in Sevastopol (in Crimea). It is located mainly at the Bay of Sevastopol, and at smaller bays around the Heracles peninsula. The port infrastructure is fully integrated with the city of Sevastopol and naval bases of the Russian Navy and the Black Sea Fleet."

And why didn't the US do anything about it?? Because they new it was non negotiable, unless they wanted war with Russia, and we all know how that could end.

If there was any doubt that the US was behind the overthrow of the Ukraine government, a leaked phone call dispelled any doubts:

Victoria Nuland (married to Robert Kagan of PNAC fame, now dissolved) was up to her neck in it.

"On February 4, 2014, a recording of a phone call between Nuland and U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, on January 28, 2014, was published on YouTube." (It's easy to find on the internet).

"In their phone conversation, Nuland and Pyatt discussed who should join a unity government, to include Arseniy Yatsenyuk, and in what ways they might achieve that outcome. Specifically, the two spoke about which opposition leaders they would like to see in government, what pitches they would give each opposition leader in subsequent calls to achieve this, and strategies on how they would try to manage the 'personality problems' and conflicts between the different opposition leaders with ambitions to become president."

"Nuland notified Pyatt that after the review of the three opposition candidates for the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine, the US State Department had selected Arseniy Yatsenyuk."

"After discussing Ukrainian opposition figures, they discussed that the EU would not commit to mediate, with Nuland adding " **** the EU." (Wikipedia doesn't censor the word)

    About PNAC:

"The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) was a neoconservative[1][2][3] think tank based in Washington, D.C. that focused on United States foreign policy. It was established as a non-profit educational organization in 1997, and founded by William Kristol and Robert Kagan.

"Of the twenty-five people who signed PNAC's founding statement of principles, ten went on to serve in the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush, including Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Paul Wolfowitz. Observers such as Irwin Stelzer and Dave Grondin have suggested that the PNAC played a key role in shaping the foreign policy of the Bush Administration, particularly in building support for the Iraq War.
