Well the West never has ever even spoken about, let alone chastised, Germany & France for supplying Saddam Hussein with chemicals & the facilities to turn them in to weapons...
( no state was allowed to sell him both so they each just sold him one part- one sold him the chemicals & the other the facilities ), weapons which were then used on Kurdish civilians.

It’s hard to swallow our Western gov’s words when they ignore basically the exact same things they then use to hassle others.

At this point it’s not in the Assad regime’s best interest at all to give the West any excuses to keep mucking around over there, quite the opposite actually. That’s why many just shake their heads at most of this- with Russia & the West’s help which has already been provided Assad & his gov. actually need peace & quiet to mop up the last troublemakers.

The first question in law ‘qi Bono?’ or ‘who benefits?’ makes one tend to think that we are just looking for excuses to stay in the game over there, then when we remember that the US etc want a gas/oil pipeline through Syria while Syria seems to lean towards sticking with Russia & letting them build their own pipeline we start to wonder about our underlying motivation even more.
