Hubris, optimism, delusion, bidding US interests, blackmailed, etc just to name a few speculative thoughts. It's immaterial, opportunity came and went. I doubt NATO is displeased with its objective nor Russia with the economic impact. That leaves Ukr, people died (lots) but even their some can spin the positives, no Russians!
