russia had a big river at their back and supply was very hard , too simplistic
Ukraine will retreat across the river and cede that portion to russia and have a better defensive line over the remainder of Bakhmut

not the situation at Bakhmut where supply is still quite OK ...while they hold Chasiv Yar and Ivanivske and if russia is going to take Bakhmut they'll need to advance from the south and take those towns ...not looking like it at present .

So ...Bakhmut holds ....and will continue to do so for at least some time IMO !
We'll see who's right over time .
