Very true. Putin is the devil to people in the west of course because:

1. Putin is the leader of a nation which was formerly communist and as such a traditional arch enemy of the west.

2. Putin is seen as the one who drove the decision to carry out the 2022 invasion of Ukraine when Russia was in reality under no immediate threat of attack. This action by definition was a war crime: Russia always had the choice not to invade and has miscalculated badly in my opinion. (Both Russia and NATO have blood on their hands of course as the US provoked the war and refused early on to negotiate a compromise with Russia).

3. The western mainstream media are mouthpieces of the US government and its obedient allies so the western public are mainly consuming simplistic one-sided propaganda which for them is their only information about the war. And this applies to a lesser extent for America's previous horrendous illegal wars and military actions.

As John Mearsheimer indicated in the video of the interview I recently posted on this thread, people of non western countries tend to have a negative view of the actions of the United States in this war.
