The West will not drop the sanctions and Ukraine / the West will not allow Putin to steal Ukrainian territory. For those reasons I see the ‘Xi peace plan’ as being DOA, but the optics are that there is some effort going on to portray China as a global peace maker.
The bottom line is that there will not be a complete cease fire out of the Xi visit; even if Russia unilaterally declared one there nothing in it for Ukraine - who have been absorbing a lot of Russian blows at Bakhmut & are now gearing up for their Spring Counter-Offensive.
