Kiev was actually the capital of Russia at one point known as Kievan Rus until the Mongols invaded and destroyed the city in 1240. The Russians relocated their capital to Moscow.
To describe it as persecution misrepresents the fact that a nation didnt even exist, and in that context, on is always at the call of other powers.

long history for anyone who actually knows their history ...printing coins 500 years before russia did .
