China have been buying tonnes (literally) of gold for a decade to support their currency - they didn't need any recent epiphany , this has been the plan for a very long time

then think of the other western supporting nations - Japan , South Korea , Taiwan ,Oz ,etc
then think of non alligned nations like most of south east asia and India for example

because of the economic strength of the west the yuan will NEVER be fiat in it's own right
the most can be hoped for by them is at some point equal standing with the US$ but likely IMO yuan will become more important but not as much as the US$

BUT good that that stupid idea that was clearly never going to happen of a BRICS currency taking over is now stopped being discussed
China only ever wanted the yuan to have that status
