    you are fixated on the US narrative, and not looking at the Real picture.

    Putin principally demanded "security" guarantees of Russia's borders and also demand NATO (a military alliance) never allow Ukraine to join.

    Those were his primary demands.

    And he offered in return "security" guarantees to Eastern European countries.

    If you didn't understand the cause of this dispute, here is the short version: Ukraine wanted to join NATO, and by being a NATO member, Ukraine can seek help under Article 5, to reclaim the Crimea and breakaway territories back. That was Zelenskyy's strategy. But this would have meant a war between NATO and Russia.

    Putin wanted to pre-empt that move.

    He first tried to approach NATO and US to negotiate, but they blew him off, daring him to invade (refer to the propaganda of the last 2 months).

    And when he built enough forces to threaten Ukraine, they (US and NATO) freaked out.

    NATO and the US then changed tactics, threatening to ruin Russia's economy through sanctions.

    And that is how we got to, where we are today.
