You answered your own question. Different roles, different aircrafts. One is a multirole and one is not. SU 35 has an awesome cockpit, far greater range, superior take-off weight (more weapons and some heavy ones), superior radar system with great enemy missile detection capability. When SU 35 launches a missile at MIG 29, the MIG pilot does not even have the missile on a radar (neither the plane or a missile is detected), while the SU35 pilot has locked it and fired at it. The reason for that is, SU 35 can fire R - 37M from almost 400km away!!!

Russians can almost strike Kijev from Belgorod using SU 35, since the distance between Belgorod and Kiev is just over 400km.
