    Indeed they will -- it is insanity on the grandest of scales.

    But then again-- there are problems with overpopulation .

    Society today is a consequence of increasing complexity via energy flow.
    From sunlight to photosynthesis, table to mouth, gas pump to jet engine .

    It's actually easier to predict the far future than the near future but we are definitely at a crossroads and there are essentially only a few possible outcomes .

    A technological breakthru like fusion energy where there is cheap unlimited power to accommodate human population growth.

    A green equilibrium where we just get by without further increase in complexity until a tech break thru , but that would unfortunately rely on good government and policy

    A 'creative descent ' where we invoke a policy of depopulation and the closure of heavy industry decreased food production , restrictions on movement etc.
    We would eventually end up back in the agrarian age which could be kind of a good thing if one likes a simple life with sustainability.

    Or -- total collapse . All the bad stuff together.

    Take your pick, which way have the boys at the WEF decided to go ?
