the war had been going on for 8 years before NATO sent in troops
they did so because of the ethnic cleansing and the fact that the whole region was beginning to destabalise .

Never should have BEEN a country to start with but they didn't break it up , it's own member nations did that on their own .
Was always separate nations but Yugoslavia was invented by Stalin and Tito with his backing had the power to maintain it as a single entity .
All different religions and some with different customs and none wanted to be domianted by Serbia - the little Russia !

What NATO did may well have been very hard but it was relatively short and painless compared to the previous 8 years of conflict , it was fair and it stopped the conflict .....they did what needed doing ....then got out !

Russia in Ukraine has no such "good intentions" and neither will they be getting out .
