If not for Putin's bribing and destabilising campaign, Donbas Russian speakers would have lived peacefully with Ukrainians. Early days Russian speakers in Donbas did not want anything to do with Russia. Former president Yanukovich said to have received over a billion dollars from Putin to destabilise Ukraine according to a defected KSB agent.
