I know the history. There was no way an inexperienced Zelensky was going to battle the mammoth problems of Russia and corruption or as he said draining ‘the swamp’. It’s what makes Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine so senseless. The people were tiring of Zelensky’s broken promises (although you say not, he was trying, and very hard). Russia and Ukraine were too far apart to ever agree on a consiliatory path forward(he met Putin on several occasions to broker a solution). Had Putin waited, Zelensky would have likely lost the next election and a Putin stooge could have been put into power and Putin could have controlled what he wanted. Not fair, but reality. Putin ‘s decision to invade Ukraine should be his demise.
