Your need to bring "second best army in the world" and other useless things to say it is going "bad" for Russia is ridiculous. Russia at least wants some Russian supporting territory in Ukraine, it is easily holding much of that territory now while the Ukrainian army and government is bordering on collapse.
How about a 20 year war in Afghanistan that ended with the worlds largest superpower running like cowards and giving away billions of dollars in weapons and infrastructure to the Taliban, a group they said were terrorists harming the local population? Imagine losing to a rag tag military operating out of caves as the worlds #1 ? And you compare this even slightly to Russia fighting Ukraine with most of the worlds largest military supplying aid, information and mercs to them? In fact if you look at the U.S. track record in the last 50 years, it is filled with "failure to achieve" when it comes to objectives in the long term. Majority of the world now despising them and backing a new reserve currency in BRICs.
Nearly no one outside of Russia leadership knows why Russia is operating the way it is and it is only in the minds of fools and midwits that think what they are doing is "bad" or "failing".
