Not sure what sector(s) of the economy your average Russian 'friends' work in, because this is not what we are hearing from many ex-employees of our mining software company that exited Russia due to sanctions making it impossible to do business there.

They would be considered urban middle class and their view is that they are doing it far harder now, than pre Russian invasion of the Ukraine and plenty of sentiments expressed that they wish the war had never happened.

There's also a few that have got out of Russia and mainly moved to Canada to work in mining and their sentiments are definitely not that it's all good in Russia and they won't be going back.

A view which is supported by all the emigration data from Russia (i.e. there pretty much ain't anyone breaking down the door to move to Russia).
