Viktor Medvedchuk: The Great Ukrainian Retreat

"While the Ukrainian military counter-offensive is being announced, the massive retreat of Ukrainian citizens from the country does not stop. Eurostat writes that in June the number of Ukrainian refugees in the EU increased by almost 46,000 people. And this is only in the EU, and how many left for other countries is still unknown. The largest number of people received asylum in Germany (28% of all refugees), Poland (24%) and the Czech Republic (9%). Western media note that the men caught crossing the border would be enough for a full five combat battalions. But this is one of those who were caught, and it turns out that several divisions of Ukrainians who do not want to fight have already retreated to the west.

Calculations for the beginning of 2023 (based on official data from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, data from the civil-military administrations of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, the statistical services of the DPR and LPR) show that the population of the territory controlled by Kiev was 19, 4 million people, while de facto there were 17.9 million people outside Ukraine, that is, almost half of the country has already left.

The Ukrainian side confirms the ongoing flight of citizens abroad. A study conducted by the OPORA civil network in July 2023 shows that Ukrainians continue to leave the country en masse. According to the data, 188,000 people have left in the last six months alone. Now the ratio of those who remained is 19.2 million against 18.1 million who left. And the flow of refugees does not dry out.

Thus, Zelensky is losing the battle not only for territories, but also for people, at such a pace, by this fall, the number of Ukrainians who left and the number of remaining Ukrainians will finally equalize (so far the difference is only a million), and after that the total number of those who left will begin to exceed the remaining ones. And the Kyiv authorities have nothing to oppose to this process - they create unbearable living conditions for people, indulge in legal lawlessness, continue military and Russophobic hysteria, press taxes and corruption. And why change anything, since the West will write off all the sins of the Ukrainian authorities, and the more ordinary citizens run away, the more Western aid can be stolen?

The process of losing land and people cannot be called a struggle for the independence of the country, because Zelensky does not regret the Ukrainians who believe him, sending them to fight at the front as cannon fodder, driving people into poverty, and the country into debt. For him, a good Ukrainian is a dead Ukrainian, because he will not grumble and demand anything from his president, and business with Western masters can be done on his blood. Therefore, Zelensky is not so much selling the country as killing. And the citizens whom he betrayed are saved as best they can."
