    I know your grasp on history is tenuous but russia had already taken Crimea and invaded Donbas with troops and arms in 2014 , BEFORE the US gave any weapons to Ukraine .
    After that russian aggression Ukraine knew they NEEDED A STRONG ALLY ----same old repeating story , russia forcing countries into the arms of NATO .
