    Bakhmut defence did destroy a big chunk of Russian fighting capability. the failure of Russian army at south and grinding conquest of Soledar gave time to prepare for the current counter offensive*

    USA I believe was calling for Ukrainian earlier withdrawal. so i do not think they were demoralised by the loss at all.

    *no matter how it is going.
