Ukrainian losing more equipment and manpower in Bakhmut than Russia would go against the reality of battlefield - when everything is equal attacker lose more than defenders. Therefore, its highly probable and more sane to believe that russia lost way more equipment and manpower on that frontline.
now of course Ukraine is in disadvantage as attacker.
