I don't believe I ever said he did .....but he did expect it I'm sure ....he was also very close with that attack on Kyiv which really should've worked ...when it didn't , he was in a hard place with not enough soldiers and an angry west and doubled down when he should've pulled out .
Pride !

Logic says he never expected or wanted a long war .
Classic misjudgement of three things :
1. the quality of his own military
2. the strength and unity of western response
3. the fight in the Ukrainians

I think all these things beyond question and will appear in history books .
