What a silly argument. Of course, that Russia has had a major issue (well documented) with the NATO’s expansion in the countries of the ex-Warsaw Pact. Putin is a nationalist, but he is not crazy to try and change the decisions made 20 years ago. Finland and Sweden are not a concern for Russia, even as NATO members. Not enough Russians live in those countries for him to care, and if some serious military infrastructure (nuclear) is not installed in those countries, there will be peace.
Putin said in 2008 that NATO expansion to Ukraine and Georgia would not happen. Let’s stick with the well documented facts.’ Eastward expansion’ were his words. Sweden and Finland don’t lie in that direction.
