Do some reading in Geopolitics mate.
Its all about power and the exercise of power, not morality (Right/wrong, good/bad)

And of course Great Powers (major Nuke Powers) exercise their powers
where the can short of a Nuke War .

IMO we'll see geopolitics in action among our near neighbours
over the next decade as China's BRI morphs into security pacts
with our BRI neighbours . That has started in the Solomons already, IMO.

So in future, libertarians may well voice your mantra (a country has the right
to choose regardless of probable consequences) that Aus may have a much
different position if say PNG chooses to allow Chinese WMD to be siloed in
southern PNG for a "consideration" If there were to be a hint of that, then
our diggers would pay PNG a visit, IMO and bugger PNG's right to choose...eh?

So, in summary, the personal (ie morals/ethics) is not translatable into
Geopolitics .......just applies to individual citizens so that they don't rock the boat.

In the same way that individual & small business business ethics does not
translate into the Multinationals sphere of business . That is evidenced
globally and of course that's why there are Taxhavens.

That said, in religion, the religious maxims apply universally and
equally to individuals and countries , but of course only Caliphates
and religious regimes such as Iran abide by that nowadays.

Perhaps that's where we as individuals get our "one size fits all" morality from ...eh?
