Navalny lawyer fails to attend court hearing and 'phone turned off'

One of Alexei Navalny's lawyers has not attended a scheduled court hearing, a message from the jailed Kremlin's critic's group on Telegram reports.

In a brief statement, Navalny's team said Alexander Fedulov did did not attend the court hearing in Kovrov and his phone was "turned off".

For context: Last week, Russian investigators detained three lawyers who have worked for Navalny - Vadim Kobzev, Igor Sergunin and Alexei Liptser.

The detentions came as Navalny awaits transfer from the penal colony where he has been held.

Navalny has been in prison for two years and nine months since being arrested on his return from Germany, where he had been treated after being poisoned with a nerve agent in Siberia.

The Kremlin denied trying to kill him, and refuses to comment on his case or his treatment by prison authorities.

Despite his imprisonment, Navalny has been able to post updates of his treatment on social media through his lawyers.
