War is now too complex with the hardware so expensive and requiring a skilled workforce, that "WWIII" will not be waged across continents and all the world's oceans.

During WWII Britain was replacing Hurricanes and Spitfires as fast as they were being destroyed, even during the Battle of Britain, the Ford factory at Willow Run was turning out a B 24 every hour and the shipyards a couple of Liberty ships per day. Both a bit cheap and nasty but they flew/floated. Today the world can't replace the machines of war as they are being destroyed. They can't even replace the stuff that goes BANG as it is consumed.

So how do they have a world war? The same way they stage football - in an arena, and unfortunately for Ukraine their country is the chosen arena.

Have no doubt that there will be a victor and a vanquished and that the power politics will be different than they are today when that point is reached.
