Estonia has accused Moscow of "weaponising immigration" on Europe's eastern borders, amid a massive increase in the number of asylum seekers trying to exit Russia.
This comes after Finland announced it had shut all but one of its border crossings with Russia due to the rise in migrants attempting to cross (see 11.00am post).
Estonia, Poland and Latvia have all faced similar issues - with each country taking measures to limit the flow of migrants or increasing security on their respective border crossings with Russia or its ally Belarus in recent months.
Hanno Pevkur, Estonia's defence minister, said this morning hundreds of people who had arrived at the borders were there because of a "fully state-orchestrated" Russian operation.
This was echoed by Latvia's defence minister, Andris Spruds, who dubbed Russian President Putin the "puppet master" behind the crisis.
