I think Zel gov was trying to achieve two "Political" objectives.

1. This was Nato's war. Ukrainian was tasked to fight their war for them, and

2. As such, Nato is obligated to continue funding Ukraine.

Btw, have you guys noticed the change in slogan recently, coming out of both Nato and US, from "as long it takes" to "as long as necessary"???
