Hitler was preparing imperialist Germany for WW2 for years and the destruction and colonisation of the USSR was always the goal.
Undoubtedly stupid Stalins reactionary policies only assisted hitler, but the source of WW1 and WW2 was German imperialism, not Stalins nationalist politics.
