Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny has been removed from a prison colony in Russia and his whereabouts are not known.
Navalny's allies said on X that his lawyers had tried to get to IK-6 and IK-7 - two colonies in the Vladimir region, east of Moscow, where Navalny might be - but they had been informed he is not there.
His spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh said the vocal critic of Vladimir Putin was due to appear in court today via video link but did not.
She said prison officials cited electricity problems.
Lawyers in recent days also have not been able to access Navalny, according to Ms Yarmysh.
"It is already the sixth straight day that we don't know where Alexei is and what is happening to him," Ms Yarmysh wrote on X.
Navalny has been behind bars since January 2021.
His arrest came upon his return to Moscow from Germany, where he recuperated from nerve agent poisoning that he blamed on the Kremlin.
He has since been handed three prison terms and spent months in isolation in a penal colony in the Vladimir region on various criminal charges, including extremism.
He has rejected all charges against him as politically motivated.
