The anniversary is coming up and Vondeyleyen and stoltenberg have already road tested the new definition of winning in recent speeches.

    1. Kiev holds
    2. Russia lost half its military capability (and yet it is advancing and is a threat to NATO???)
    3. Ukraine recaptured half of the territory it lost. (Ukraine is winning, don't mention the 2023 counter offensive)
    4. Ukraine has pushed back the black sea fleet ( this point is true - long range french and brit missiles forced a sensible repositioning of the fleet out of range, as we see in Yemen blue water navies are less relevant in this century)
    5. Russia is isolated economically by sanctions (yet the russian economy grew, BRICS grew and Europe's economies went backwards)
6 Russia is isolated diplomatically (In Europe and "the west" this is true but I think the feeling is mutual that Russia was wary of NATO expansion and doesn't really trust the west now or want to play the soft diplomacy card much after minsk and the provision of weapons and training and mercenaries to Ukraine and push to further expand NATO)
