How would attacking the Kremlin itself save the troops on the frontline?

Does Ukraine want to build a new presidential palace or parliament building and just wants a free demolition job from Russia perhaps?

Ukraine is fighting for US headline news stories in an election year but there will no doubt be consequences if they try kremlin attack again.

Maybe they need a decent cover story to get Zelensky deleted - they can blame it on the russians and that works for Biden and Zaluzhny politically in the information war.
