The mighty US did the cut and run from Afghanistan after spending a few trillion dollars and 20 years replacing the Taliban with the Taliban, Russia has weapons that the US does not so maybe NATO just didn't have the spine to take the risk.

Putin went in to protect the people of Donbas who had been taking Ukrainian forces attacks for 8 years or so and Zelensky had been given 3 years to stop the attacks as he promised but he did the coward act, Putin's reason the same as when NATO went into Libya and the US into Syria to protect the so called "rebels".
