Russian opposition politicians have called for the nomination of an anti-war candidate for the Russian elections, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reports.
Boris Nadezhdin, who is publicly opposed to Vladimir Putin's policies, is a member of the centre-right Civil Initiative party and has also previously served in Russia's parliament.
He needs to collect at least 100,000 signatures in at least 40 regions of the country in order to be added to the ballot for the elections - he has so far collected around 83,000 signatures supporting his candidacy.
Mr Nadezhdin campaign website sees him calls for "freedom of speech", "fair elections" and a "civil society".
RFE/RL reports that Ekaterina Duntsova, who was barred from running against Mr Putin, has shared her support for Mr Nadezhdin.
Also sharing his support is Russian activist Maxim Katz who called him "the only anti-war candidate" and called for signatures for him.
Mr Katz was sentenced to eight years in prison in absentia for spreading "fake news" last year.
