Yanukovych was elected with a mandate that Ukraine would join the EU and when he couldn't fulfil that promise then he should have resigned like other democratic elected leaders have done but instead he ran off to his master for help. In case you didn't know, Putin already invaded Ukraine and took Crimea and then manipulated the EU for a decade selling them Russia's resources to build a reliant so they wouldn't support Ukraine for his end game. How wrong he was.
