Personally, I don't think the "Elites" are suicidal - if they expand the war, it would escalate into a nuclear one where hundreds of millions, if not billions will die.

IMHO, they just want market share: with Nordstream gone, the LNG is coming from the US; and with Eastern Nato States, having depleted their Soviet style military machines, they will looking to buy from the US.

That means there will be years and years of steady demand for their military equipment and LNG.

So why destroy the customer base by expanding the war? A dead customer is NOT a paying one.

Whether the Ukrainian like it or not, they will be thrown under the bus.
