At some point Zels will have to decide whether he will sit down and discuss peace with Mr Putin. If he cannot, he will have to resign and allow someone else to do so.

In the meantime, the Russkies will simply take more and more of Ukr. The original position of Russia was, no NATO, no Crimea, a level of autonomy for E Ukr which was largely Russkie speaking. Any settlement now will be on the basis of no NATO, no Crimea, no E Ukr and other land they have acquired although they may make some concessions at the margin.

Sadly, for Ukr, it is lose-lose while Zels is sitting there.
